In the darkness he arrives
Coming to a stop
turning off the lights
‘Hey’ he says
And throws me something
It’s a loaf of raisin bread
The front of his car is gone
The bottom sides are scraped off
He stands there grinning
Then makes a serious face
‘Are you ok?’
